We need a new super-smart, super-passionate and super-on-to-it Digital Designer to join our team. Someone who wants to focus on designing beautiful, functional interfaces for an awesome and massively underserved user base. Basically this means taking requirements and specifications and working with the product and engineering team to design awesome solutions. This is an opportunity to lead the look and feel of the Tradify brand and visual identity, designing our main marketing site and other vital front-facing collateral.

If you thrive on design thinking, a relentless pursuit of creativity, and ultimately doing amazing work, you’re gonna fit right in. In a typical day, you might do some of the following:

  • Kick off the morning with coffee and a catch-up with a diverse range of team members
  • Meet with the engineering team to discuss prototypes for a new mobile feature you are designing
  • Have a chat with the Customer Experience team about how customers carry out quoting in their business
  • Participate in a discussion about a customer problem and the design process we will use to uncover a solution
  • Develop and share some comps for a new Facebook campaign we are about to run.
  • Work with a front-end developer to ensure your design is as awesome as you had imagined.
  • Craft a beautiful, remarkable design for our marketing website that is worthy of entering in the Best Awards or at least proudly posting to your Dribbble.
  • Help build an event stand including digital display and physical signage

 

You’re going to love this job if you:

  • Have a bachelor's degree plus two years experience in interaction design or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience of a leading edge digital or design company and practices.
  • A great understanding the concepts of graphic design, and user interfaces.
  • Have a foundation of design fundamentals such as typography, layout, colour theory, and branding.
  • Have a technical understanding of HTML & CSS, responsive layouts and mobile app design.
  • Are focussed on the quality of the user interface as much as the aesthetics.
  • Can serve as a subject matter expert for graphic design practices.
  • Are highly organised with great attention to detail.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communications skills..
  • Believe that tradies do important work and that supporting them to success is an awesome job.
  • Want to do work that improves other people’s lives, but also believe it should be fun.

We’re a team of 20 friendly & diverse people who work and play hard, but we’re growing rapidly, and this role is going to grow too. You’ll report directly to the Head Of Customer Experience, but beyond that you’ll be working across a flat team where everyone shares in the same purpose and pitches in as needed.

Primary Objectives

Based on the business mission and key objectives, the Digital Designer will participate in digital and UI design processes to that result in a fantastic digital solution across Tradify’s suite of tools and other digital touchpoints.

Key activities include collaborating on solutions, concepting and prototyping, interface and visual design, and quality assurance.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Amazing user interfaces and graphic design that look awesome and work brilliantly for our customers.
  • Ensuring that all parts of the business are able to delivering a world-class ui and visual designs.
  • Delivering the thinking, specifications and support needed to make your vision a reality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enable the creation of concepts, user interface sketches, and completed visual designs
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in design thinking, UI and marketing design practices
  • Concepting, coming up with the key ideas that drive solve a problem and supporting ideas needed to implement them in the best way for our users. Deliverables include: prototypes, concepts, mood boards, design comps, sketches and final design.
  • Communication throughout the process, presenting various aspects of the UI to the your team, the development team, and other clients and stakeholders.
  • Quality assurance, during development, track and monitor progress on development and quality of the UI and visual design.
  • Support marketing and sales activities with visual design compositions such as presentations, banners and video content.
  • Participating in a team-oriented environment to create an amazing user experience via a complex mobile app suite and web platform.

Skills and expertise:

  • 2+ years of work experience in the field with a proven track record of contributions to successful design thinking
  • Strong understanding of interactive experiences, channels, and design principles
  • Proficiency in underlying interactive technologies such as web and mobile
  • Strong presentation and written communication skills
  • Proven background as a creative thinker
  • Experience in the Adobe Creative package, Sketch and the principles of web development
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and contribute to new ideas required in a diverse, fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment.
  • Organisation and analytic skills, with strong problem solving ability.
  • Great people skills (you’ll know how to communicate with team members and have a some fun).
