Work at Tradify

Junior Mobile Developer

Tradify is a real Kiwi technology success story – more than 7,000 tradies around the world depend on us to help them succeed in their business and life goals. We are at an exciting stage of company growth where we are searching for top talent who are going to get a buzz from seeing the tangible impact of their work in the progression and evolution of Tradify. Customer success is at the heart of what we do, and we’re doing a pretty great job so far - Tradies have rated Tradify as one of the top small business apps in Xero’s marketplace, and we’re beating our own growth records every month.

We work hard but take the time to celebrate wins, we’re willing to go the distance for a product we believe in and we know what it takes to succeed as a high-growth business. This means a good balance between flexibility and a commitment to getting the job done when something urgent pops up. We’re proud to be working hard on great and innovative ways to help tradies succeed each and every day, and you will need to be too.

As part of our growth, we need a fresh, smart Junior Developer who wants to focus on mobile technology and believes in the massive role it can play in the lives of our customers. Basically this means helping to take Tradify's mission out in the field and into the pockets of users all over the planet.

Do you want to be participating in one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies in Australasia? Do you want a job that goes deeper than being just another code-monkey? Not only will you be developing the mobile experience across Android and iOS, you'll be learning, challenged and up-skilled by a team of friendly and focussed engineers while building out a world-class tech stack.

Your most important focus will be on developing mobile solutions for iOS and Android. Whilst we use the Xamarin stack, we aren't so interested in your current Xamarin aptitude, that we can teach. We are more interested in your attitude and motivation. The successful candidate might not have any Xamarin experience if they can share a desire to dedicate themselves to becoming a world-class mobile expert.

If you thrive on technical challenges, a relentless pursuit on creating awesome user experiences, and ultimately helping people succeed, you're gonna fit right in.

In a typical day, you might:

  • Kick off the morning with coffee and a stand-up
  • Meet with the UX team to discuss prototypes for new mobile features
  • Talk to the customer support team about how GPS tracking works in the app
  • Carry out a peer-review on a team-mate's .net code
  • Join in a discussion about a customer need and the role that mobile could play in solving it
  • Sit with a designer finely tuning the user interface and app performance so that it feels silky smooth
  • Go deep on some performance testing, from a physical handset connected over 4G all the way through the API to SQL queries happening on the server.
  • Continue to substantially enhance our existing mobile app offering by refactoring components, layouts and workflows.

You're going to love this job if you:

  • Have 2+ years experience in software engineering, using .net or similar to develop commercial web or mobile solutions...or, if your experience is less than this, reasonable proof that you are a bit of a prodigy.
  • Are focussed on the quality of the user experience as much as the quality of the code-base
  • Pride yourself on crafting error-free, high-performance code that can be easily understood by others.
  • Enjoy participating in a high performance team-oriented environment to develop a complex web and mobile app platform.
  • Enjoy integrating with software components to build a fully functional software eco-system.
  • Are highly organised with great attention to detail.
  • Believe that tradies do important work and that supporting them to success is an awesome job.
  • Want to do work that improves other people's lives, but also believe it should be fun.

We're a team of 20 friendly & diverse people who work and play hard, but we're growing rapidly, and this role is going to grow too. You'll report directly to the Tech Team Lead and Head Of Customer Experience, but beyond that you'll be working across a flat team where everyone shares in the same purpose and pitches in.

You'll have the unique opportunity to play a critical role in a Kiwi success story, and build on your skills and talents as we grow. For the right candidate, we offer competitive remuneration, a great, spacious office in the heart of Mt. Eden, several dedicated parking spots, your own kick-arse rig, and a great working-environment with monthly team lunches and Friday-night drinks.
